Ms Fang Zhao Ling is one of China's foremost artists and a distinguished alumna of the University. She studied under some of China's most famous painters but in subsequent decades has developed her own distinctly personal style and her works are consequently rich in substance and colour, being widely admired. Ms Fang has travelled extensively over the past decades and painted a wide range of subjects, including China, England's Lake District and the effects of the Gulf War. Her passion for creativity and innovation leads her to constantly work on new themes and experiment with new forms of expression.
In recognition of her contributions to art, the University has resolved to confer upon her the degree of Doctor of Letters honoris causa.
