Mr Philip Wong Kin Hang is a solicitor who is an alumnus of the University of Hong Kong and has been for many years involved in various aspects of community and charity work in the territory, including being a director and executive director of the Community Chest of Hong Kong and a former Chairman of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. He has served unfailingly for the past nine years on the high-powered Public Service Commission and was also formerly a Council Member of the Law Society. He is additionally a former President of the HKU Alumni Association and has maintained a regular interest in the development of the University. Currently he is a member of the University Council and Vice-Chairman of the HKU Foundation for Educational Development and Research.
In recognition of his achievements and contributions to Hong Kong society, the University has resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa.
