Dr David Li Kwok Po is Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bank of East Asia. He represents the Finance Constituency in the Legislative Council and is Chairman of the Chinese Bank’s Association. Dr Li is a Hong Kong Affairs Advisor to the People's Republic of China and also serves on the international advisory boards of many international companies such as Rolls-Royce and Thorn EMI, in addition to holding numerous international directorships. He also devotes much time to community work and among other responsibilities he is chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Hong Kong, and chairman of the Executive Committee of the St James' Settlement. He is currently the University's Treasurer, Deputy Chairman of the Council, and Chairman of the University's Finance Committee and Committee on the Ninth Decade and Beyond. He holds honorary degrees from the universities of Cambridge and Warwick.
In recognition of his contributions to the economy in Hong Kong, the University has resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa.
