Professor Lord Lewis of Newnham is currently Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He is an internationally-recognised scientist who has published over 800 papers in leading chemistry journals, published two books and trained more than 80 PhD students. He is former president of the Royal Society of Chemistry and has been a trustee member of the Croucher Foundation since 1990.

Lord Lewis is a former external examiner for the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong and has served as supervisor to several members of staff and students at the University over the last 20 years.

In recognition of his services to the advancement of science and technology, the University has resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa.
