Mr Rogerio Hyndman Lobo, who is a Director of many Hong Kong-based companies, has a record of over thirty years community service. He has been concurrently a member of the Urban, Executive and Legislative Councils and is now Senior Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council. He was appointed Commissioner for Civil Aid Services in 1977 and the areas of his public service have ranged from the Advisory Committee on Corruption to membership of the Tenancy Tribunal and the Medical Development Advisory Committee. He has been a member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong since 1975. Many charitable organisations have drawn on his time and effort, notably the Society for the Blind, SARDA, and Caritas on whose committees he has served since their inception.
In recognition of his public service, the University has resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Laws honoris causa.
