The Most Reverend Peter Kwong Kong Kit is the first Archbishop and Primate of Hong Kong Sheung Kung Hui and Bishop of the Diocese of Hong Kong Island. His contributions to the community of Hong Kong are many and varied. In 1998 he was installed the first Chinese Archbishop of the Anglican Church. He is Advisor of the Amity Foundation of China, Vice-President of the Church Missionary Society, patron of Comfort Care and Concern, an organisation for terminally ill patients, Chairman of the Diocesan Welfare Council, President of St James’ Settlement, President of St Simon Social Service and President of the Lady MacLehose Centre. He is also Chairman of St John’s College Council at the University of Hong Kong.
In recognition of his contribution, the University has resolved to confer upon him the degree of Doctor of Divinity honoris causa.
