Mr Stanley Chu Yu Lun is the founder and Chairman of the Adsale Group. Established in 1978 in Hong Kong, the Adsale Group is internationally recognized as the pioneering and leading China trade promotion company in the Asia-Pacific region. In the 80s, the Group served as the exclusive advertising representative for a number of world-renowned newspapers. The Group later moved into organizing international trade fairs on the Mainland with the aim of supporting China’s modernization by introducing advanced foreign machinery and technologies.
He is currently Honorary Life President of the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association, a Member of the Steering Committee on Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions of HKSAR, a Member of Tourism Strategy Group of HKSAR, and the incoming Chairman of the Asia Pacific Chapter of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
Mr Chu received his BSc degree from HKU in 1973 and an MBA degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1984. He is a Founding Senior Member of the HKU Foundation, the Founding President of the HKU Science Alumni Association Ltd, an Ex-Co Member and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong University Graduates Association Education Foundation. During the Faculty of Science’s 70th Anniversary celebrations in 2009-2010, Mr Chu was named one of the Faculty’s distinguished alumni for his professional accomplishments and his contributions to society.

Mr Stanley Chu Yu Lun is the founder and Chairman of the Adsale Group. Established in 1978 in Hong Kong, the Adsale Group is internationally recognized as the pioneering and leading China trade promotion company in the Asia- Pacific region.
In the 80s, the Group served as the exclusive advertising representative in Mainland China for a number of world- renowned newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the Handelsblatt and the Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Its aim was to help Mainland enterprises and trading corporations establish international sales and marketing channels for their export commodities.
The Group later moved into organizing international trade fairs on the Mainland, with the aim of supporting China’s modernization by introducing advanced foreign machinery and technologies. It also ventured into publishing businesses.
Under Mr Chu’s leadership, the Group has grown in both scale and reach –and has a staff of over 200, working in offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore, and an agency network covering nearly 30 countries and regions.
Mr Chu is currently Honorary Life President of the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Industry Association, a Member of the Steering Committee on Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions of the HKSAR, a Member of Tourism Strategy Group of the HKSAR, and the incoming Chairman of the Asia Pacific Chapter of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).
For his contributions to the industry, he was presented with the ‘Top Ten People in the China Exhibition Industry’ award in 2001 and 2003.

Since graduation, Mr Chu has been an active and enthusiastic alumnus of the University.
He was the Founding Chairman of the HKU Graduates Association in 1976 and the HKU Science Alumni Association in 1990, and has supported the University’s research endeavours through the HKU Foundation.

With the support of the HKU Education Faculty, the Foundation has successfully established two direct subsidy schools, the HKUGA Primary School and the HKUGA College, to provide holistic and quality education in Hong Kong.
It gives me great pleasure, Mr Pro-Chancellor, to present Mr Stanley Chu Yu Lun for the Honorary University Fellowship, in recognition of his contributions to Hong Kong and academia.
