  • The Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a leading research centre in gerontology in the greater China and in the Asian Pacific region. The Centre was officially launched in April 1999 under the auspices of the Faculty of Social Sciences of The University of Hong Kong. The Centre aims to contribute to meaningful ageing around the world through rigorous interdisciplinary research that empowers social capital and facilitates social change. Abiding by the core values of social capital, people-centric, creativity, originality and academic excellence, the Centre optimizes the quality of care and quality of life for ageing populations through cutting-edge research on social gerontology; capacity development of professionals, policy makers and the public; and partnerships with research and community agencies that seek to influence social change, all of which are pursued through international, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to maximize impact.
