Dear Graduands of the Class of 2022, Colleagues and Students,

The University has been reviewing the arrangements for the Degrees Congregations, taking into account many constructive feedback from members of the HKU community in particular the graduates. We are pleased to announce that starting from 2022 two Congregations will be held instead of one at the end of the year to confer degrees on the graduands. It is hoped that this arrangement will enable the issuance and collection of graduation certificates in a timelier manner, and to provide graduands with a more gratifying experience to celebrate this unique milestone in their lives.

Accordingly, a "summer Congregation" (i.e. 206th Congregation) will be held in July 2022, and a "winter Congregation" will be held between late November and early December this year. Most of the Congregation ceremonies will take place in the Grand Hall of the University.

The Faculty of Dentistry will hold only the winter Congregation this year, as its graduands will not complete their studies until August 2022.

Please also note the following IMPORTANT items for graduands:

1. Graduands who are eligible for graduation will be assigned to the Congregation nearest to the completion date of their studies for conferral of degrees. Candidates who are not able to attend the assigned session of Congregation will be conferred the degrees in absentia.


2. Graduands will receive notification from their respective Faculties confirming their graduation and details for registration for admission tickets.


3. The schedules of the forthcoming 206th Congregation have been announced on the website https://www4.hku.hk/congreg/faculty, and more details of the arrangements will be provided by the Faculties once available.


4. Please bookmark the Congregation website (https://www4.hku.hk/congreg/) and visit it regularly for essential information and updates on the Congregation arrangements this year, including the schedules of the Faculty sessions, links to the Faculty Congregation websites, respective online systems for registration for admission tickets, loan of academic dress, collection of certificates etc., as well as other latest updates.

In view of the latest developments of the COVID-19 situation, the University will keep monitoring the situation and make appropriate adjustments to the ceremony arrangements whenever required.
