The Learning Commons & Lecture Centre
The Centennial Campus has at its heart the Learning Commons. Spread over two whole floors, this 6,000m2 of space represents a revolutionary change of learning experience of the 21th Century – from teacher-oriented to student-oriented learning.
The Learning Commons will be a space for study, discussion, information access and learning assistance. But it is much more than a library. While there are quiet areas for study, there are ample spaces for eating, drinking, group discussion and the use of AV facilities. Users can gain access to library materials and digital resources, and study and conduct research in a comfortable and interactive manner. This highly collaborative and interactive space can accommodate up to 2,000 people, and some areas will be opened 24 hours a day.
A Lecture Centre, composed of a 1000-seat lecture theatre, and several small halls and classrooms will be located below the ground level of the Centennial Campus.
