Exploring the Backyard of HKU

Co-organised by Friends of Centennial Campus, the Lung Fu Shan Environmental Education Centre (LFSEEC) and the Lung Fu Shan Country Park Morning Walkers’ Association, “Hiking at Lung Fu Shan – Exploring the Backyard of HKU”, was held on April 2. The hiking event brought together more than thirty participants, including HKU students, teachers and residents of the Central and Western District, and even some seniors from Ma On Shan.

The trip started with a visit to the LFSEEC, followed by the Pinewood Battery and the remains of old forts on the hilltop. The panoramic views of the west of the Island and the Victoria Harbour were the best reward for everyone after more than an hour’s walk. After listening to an introduction to the Chinese Herbs Garden by Mr. S.K. Chan, the Chairman of Morning Walker’s Association, the participants ended the trip with a glimpse of the Centennial Campus under construction.
