The train for HKU is approaching . . .
The construction of the Hong Kong University Station of the West Island Line will commence in March 2010. In 2014, HKU will have two MTR entrances: Entrance A at the current Haking Wong stairs, and Entrance C1 opposite the future Centennial Campus. Entrance A will be linked to the future University Street and Entrance C1 will be connected to the Centennial Campus via a new footbridge.
The Station will have five entrances and you will be able to use the footbridges and underground walkways of the MTR to access Belcher’s Street, Hill Road and Queen’s Road West.
A forum on the West Island Line was held on January 26, 2010. Engineers from the MTR presented the project and outlined its impact on HKU. When asked about the name of the future station, the MTR representative said that as with its other rail lines, the final name would be decided prior to the operation of the railway. HKU will continue to liaise closely with the MTR over the next four years and will inform staff and students of the
latest developments from time to time. If you wish to obtain more information, please contact the MTRC hotline at 29933333 or go to:
