‘Friends of Centennial Campus Programme’ Launched
HKU has grown with Hong Kong, and has made contributions to the local community, especially our neighbours in the Central and Western District. As we remain committed to further building the ties between “town and gown”, the Centennial Campus Development Office launched the “Friends of Centennial Campus” programme in July 2009.
Friends of Centennial Campus aims to build a stronger partnership between the University and members of the community, through sharing of knowledge, appreciation of the environment and contributions to the local community. Individual members aged 16 or above, and not-for-profit organisations such as schools, community organisations, residents organisations, environmental and conservation groups are welcome to join.
Members can participate in selected seminars and concerts, guided tours and talks on themes related to the environment and heritage, and organisation members will be offered access to HKU Libraries. They will also receive information about the University’s campus development projects.
In September 2009, selected general education courses of the University were offered to members on a first-come-first-served basis. Speakers include Mr Ko Chi Sum, Mr Shih Wing Ching, Mr Lam Chiu Ying and Mr Lau Yui Shiu.
The programme has received an overwhelming response and about 20 organisations have already joined the programme. For more information or to apply, please contact us at 28592437 or visit the following website:

Using Chinese calligraphy, the logo is composed of two people moving forward in the same direction. It symbolizes the fact that the University has grown with the community and highlights the joint efforts in building a better future. The heads of the two people (CC) can also be understood as representing the Centennial Campus.
The orange colour reflects the energetic character of the University and the community, while the green colour represents the protection of the environment.
