International Peers on (the Drawing) Board

The second Universitas 21 (U21) Design Forum for Learning Environment was held from 10 – 14 November 2008 at HKU. Eleven representatives from nine universities in the UK, Australia and Canada attended the forum. HKU’s project architects as well as staff and students also attended and supported the event.

The main objective of the forum was to discuss the latest trends in student-centred learning space design for 21st Century teaching and learning. The HKU Main Library and the future Centennial Campus were selected as two case studies for group discussion, and innovative proposals were presented by the delegates.

The 5-day forum served as a platform for in-depth communication and idea generation between overseas experts, our project architect and HKU colleagues. HKU’s project architect will make reference to the ideas generated during the forum in designing the learning spaces in the new campus, including the Learning Commons.
