Dear colleagues, students, alumni and friends,

I am pleased to inform you of the publication of the latest issue of the University’s Bulletin, both in print and online.

Our Cover Story is “Muddy Footprints” which looks at the relationship between human interplay and the environment – the linkage between epidemics and climate change, the impact of climate change on species distribution, the introduced population of Yellow-crested Cockatoo in Hong Kong’s urban sprawl, an experimental learning programme to raise awareness about the impact of plastic use in Hong Kong, and HKU’s commitment to sustainability and new initiatives to address sustainability challenges on campus.

Also in this issue are stories on the new laser technique to reconstruct dinosaur appearance, the dietetic soup which can relieve side effects of chemotherapy, the new strategy to enhance the production of bioethanol from cereal straw, the regeneration of enamel-like mineralised tissue on the actual tooth, the construction waste in Hong Kong and the crisis of a borderless Europe, just to name a few.
