The Review 2002 Research 7 TEACHING AND LEARNING Cultivating Success Hong Kong is in the process of positioning itself as an international city with a strong knowledge-based economy. The success of this goal depends on an educated population that can meet the pace and demands of the 21st century. The University of Hong Kong plays a vital role in fulfilling this need. We attract the brightest students in Hong Kong and provide them with an education that develops their skills and knowledge to a level recognised by many of the wor ld's top universi t ies and by employers. Our graduates have gone on to become leaders in Hong Kong and in their fields of expertise. The University’s teaching programme is the foundation of this achievement. We take great pride in the quality of our teaching and 2001-02 was an exciting and encouraging year in this respect. We underwent an external review of our teaching and learning processes, in which our staff demonstrated their commitment to quality education, underscoring our efforts to make The University of Hong Kong a world-class institution.
