Academic Dress

General Information

A full set of academic dress, including cap, hood and gown will be on loan free of charge to the graduands of Class of 2018.

  • Mondays to Fridays (9:00 am - 12:30 pm, and 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm)
  • Close on all Saturdays, Sundays, Statutory Holidays and University Holiday (whole day of December 24, 2018, afternoon of December 31, 2018 and afternoon of February 4, 2019)

  • For Doctor's Degrees: HK$1600 
  • For Master's and Bachelor's Degrees: HK$750

Loss and damage of Academic Dress

Loss and damage

  • All borrowed pieces of the academic dress, i.e. cap, hood and gown, must be returned to the Gown Room in good condition
  • Alterations to the academic dress or attachments in any form are strictly forbidden
  • If you have lost or damaged any of the pieces, you will have to pay the following charges:
    1. Doctor's Degrees academic dress: $300 for losing the cap, $1100 for losing the gown, $200 for losing the hood ; whole set : HK$1600
    2. Master's and Bachelor's degree academic dress: $180 for losing the cap, $400 for losing the gown, $170 for losing the hood; whole set: HK$750

Payment for loss and damage

  • Follow the payment instruction to settle the payment
  • Send back the payment advice slip with details of your English full name, degree title, student ID / HKID / passport number and your contact number to the Gown Room by fax 2858 2549, or scan the payment advice slip with the above details and email to congmail@hku.hk to update your loan record
