A Commencement of Works Ceremony of the Re-provision of Water Reservoirs for the Centennial Campus Project has been organized on Saturday, 28 April 2007. The event was held on the proposed site of the new campus, officiated by Mr. Chan Chi-chiu, JP, Director of Water Supplies, Dr. Victor Fung, GBS, Chairman of The University Council, The Honourable Henry Fan, Treasurer of The University Council, Mr. Jack So, JP, Member of The University Council and Chairman of The University's Campus Development and Planning Committee, Professor Lap-Chee Tsui, Vice-Chancellor and Professor John Malpas, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Project Group for Centennial Campus and Main Campus Re-development.
The Re-provision of water reservoirs will take approximately two years, i.e.
from 2007 to 2009. By then, the site will be vacated for the construction of
the superstructure of the new campus.
